The Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Stage Management is designed for aspiring professionals seeking careers as Managers in entertainment sectors like Broadway, Regional Theatre, Tours, and Special Events. This intensive curriculum delivers a comprehensive theatre education with focused training in both the artistic and technical aspects of stage management. During their first year, students engage in hands-on laboratory courses to master fundamental processes and technical skills. Qualified candidates may join Stage Management teams within their initial four semesters. Student Stage Managers collaborate with Faculty Directors to oversee productions from rehearsals to performances. The program also facilitates practical experience through partnerships with Orlando venues like The Orlando Repertory Theatre, allowing students to enhance their professional portfolios. Coursework includes essential training in design, technology, and theatre administration. Advanced studies cover collective bargaining agreements under Actor's Equity Association. The program concludes with a professional internship, enabling students to implement their skills in real-world settings. While many graduates enter the workforce immediately, the BFA also provides strong preparation for theatre-related graduate studies. Due to the program's demanding nature, balancing part-time studies or external employment proves difficult. Admission and continuation require meeting rigorous standards, with production assignments carefully structured to align artistic development with academic learning.
