The Statistical Science program equips students with the skills to create and apply statistical techniques for evaluating probability in diverse data formats. These methods help quantify the uncertainty present in findings, summaries, and interpretations derived from data analysis. The Ph.D. curriculum ensures deep understanding of core statistical theories while fostering computational and analytical abilities to construct contemporary statistical models, execute them, and clearly present outcomes. As students acquire these competencies, they gain proficiency in performing autonomous research. The M.S. program focuses on implementing statistical approaches to address significant scientific, technological, and engineering challenges, preparing graduates for industry roles. UCSC undergraduates can pursue an accelerated combined B.S./M.S. (41) track. For admissions inquiries, contact the Graduate Advisor. For program details or faculty research questions, reach out to the Graduate Director.
