The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry provides three advanced degree options: a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), a research-based Master of Science (M.S.) with thesis, and a course-based M.S. The Ph.D. and thesis M.S. curricula aim to cultivate independent researchers while engaging in cutting-edge scientific exploration within a collaborative academic setting. These research-focused programs equip graduates for professional opportunities in higher education, corporate research, government agencies, and other fields demanding advanced chemical knowledge. The non-thesis M.S. track, ideal for educators and professionals seeking to expand their chemistry background, focuses solely on coursework. Currently, around 100 students are pursuing graduate studies in the department. Important: The Research Thesis Master's program is temporarily closed to new applicants.
Student must have a four-year bachelor's degree at an English-speaking institution.
