In the Statistical Science program, students acquire skills to create and apply statistical techniques for evaluating probability-based variations across diverse data formats. These competencies enable them to measure the uncertainties present in findings, summaries, and interpretations derived from data analysis. The Ph.D. curriculum ensures comprehensive understanding of core statistical theories and methodologies, along with computational abilities to construct contemporary statistical models, execute them, and clearly convey outcomes. As students progress, they cultivate the capacity for autonomous research. The M.S. program maintains a distinct focus, prioritizing the practical use of statistical approaches to address significant scientific, technological, and engineering challenges, equipping graduates for industry roles. UCSC undergraduates have access to an accelerated B.S./M.S. (41) track. For application inquiries, contact the Graduate Advisor. For questions about the Statistical Science coursework or faculty research, reach out to the Graduate Director.
