UCSC's graduate programs in Applied Mathematics emphasize building expertise in mathematical modeling, analytical techniques, and computational methods applicable across diverse scientific and engineering fields such as fluid dynamics, biological mathematics, system dynamics, probability models, and optimization strategies.
Students can pursue either a Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Applied Mathematics. The doctoral program equips learners with core mathematical competencies to conduct interdisciplinary research across scientific and engineering domains. The master's program focuses on developing practical mathematical abilities for professional applications. Applicants who have completed a four-year bachelor's degree at an English-speaking institution
English Language Testing
For those choosing to take the TOEFL, a minimum score on the paper-based TOEFL of 550, or 220 on the computer-based test, or 83 on the internet-based test is required for admission.
For those choosing to take the IELTS, a minimum overall score of 7 from the IELTS test is required for admission.
