The Graduate Program in Management Practice, administered by the Technology Management Department, provides a certificate program designed for ambitious UCSB graduate students pursuing supplementary business training. This UC-accredited graduate certificate equips students with essential business knowledge. The Graduate Program in Management Practice (GPMP) welcomes UC Santa Barbara master's and doctoral students from all academic backgrounds. Similar to its undergraduate counterpart, GPMP covers core business principles including finance, management, marketing, and strategy, while offering advanced study in Business Strategy & Leadership, Innovation & Management, and New Venture Marketing & Finance, with specialization options in either startup or corporate business environments. Participants must complete 18 units, beginning with fundamental business concepts before selecting a concentration in either entrepreneurial or corporate tracks, aligned with their professional aspirations. The program culminates with practical application through either an Internship or participation in the New Venture Competition.
To be considered for admission to UCSB, applicants must have received a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better) from an accredited university prior to the quarter for which admission is sought.
The minimum score for consideration is 550 when taking the paper-based TOEFL, or 80 when taking the internet-based test. UCSB also considers a minimal score of 7 on the IELTS. Duolingo English Test total score of 120, or higher
