The UCSB Physics Department offers exceptional facilities for conducting both experimental and theoretical studies. The Physics building houses state-of-the-art laboratories that support diverse research areas including soft and living matter physics, condensed matter physics (encompassing graphene studies, quantum materials, and quantum information science), atomic/molecular physics (featuring quantum emulation, quantum sensing, and investigations beyond standard model physics), plus cutting-edge detector technology development for astrophysics and particle physics applications. These research initiatives benefit from extensive interdisciplinary collaborations both within and outside the department.

Final/Official transcripts will be required for all applicants who are admitted and have indicated their intent to enroll at UC Santa Barbara by submitting a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR).
