The UC Santa Barbara combined BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering program aims to provide undergraduate Mechanical Engineering students with a more comprehensive and in-depth education than the standalone Bachelor's program. Graduates of this BS/MS program are expected to be highly attractive to industry employers and have enhanced opportunities for admission to leading academic PhD programs.
This Master's program emphasizes project-based learning. A unique aspect is the opportunity to choose graduate courses across multiple specialization areas within our current ME graduate curriculum, along with the option to gain introductory business education through the UCSB Technology Management Program(link is external) (TMP).
The combined BS/MS program is designed so the total units needed for both degrees match the unit requirements for completing the BS and MS degrees independently. Safeguards ensure that courses applied toward the BS degree cannot count toward the MS degree, and the reverse. This proposed curriculum structure aligns with other combined BS/MS programs currently available through the UCSB College of Engineering, including those in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering.
You are considered a freshman applicant if you have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
