The Renaissance Studies program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major that enables students to explore one of Western Europe's most transformative historical eras, marked by radical shifts in art, literature, music, religion, and political systems.
While scholars debate the precise timeline, the Renaissance generally spans from the late 1400s to the mid-1600s, representing a bridge between medieval traditions and modern thought. This period witnessed revolutionary transformations in human perception and understanding. The era's iconic figures - including Shakespeare, Cervantes, Michelangelo, Luther, and Elizabeth I - testify to its enduring importance. Simultaneously, the Age of Discovery reshaped global history through European exploration of the Americas, creating lasting impacts across multiple continents.
