The Music Department offers undergraduate programs resulting in two degree options: (1) a Bachelor of Arts in Music, or (2) a Bachelor of Music, which is a professional degree specializing in performance or composition. These undergraduate tracks prepare students for music careers, advanced graduate studies, or as part of a broader liberal arts education.
At the graduate level, programs lead to Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in composition, ethnomusicology, musicology, and theory. The Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in performance focus on developing the intellectual, technical, and professional competencies required for today's performing musicians.
