The Latin American and Iberian Studies program explores the diverse societies and traditions of nations where Spanish and Portuguese are spoken. This academic field covers not just Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, but also includes regions like Angola, Mozambique, the Philippines, Macau, as well as Chicano and Puerto Rican communities in the United States. As a participant in this program, you'll analyze entire civilizations through multiple lenses - including humanities, arts, social sciences, and historical perspectives. You'll have opportunities to investigate numerous subjects beyond language and literature, such as anthropological studies of Latin America, the historical development of Iberian nations, and the political dynamics within Latino populations.
