The Master of International Affairs (MIA) is a rigorous two-year program dedicated to studying the Americas and Asia regions. Our distinguished faculty includes experts in public policy, international relations, security studies, economic development, and environmental issues. Ambitious students at GPS engage with real-world scenarios through hands-on case studies, data-driven problem solving, and valuable internship opportunities. Program alumni build successful careers across diverse sectors including international commerce, foreign service, humanitarian organizations, and economic development. With graduates in over 80 nations, our global alumni community fosters lifelong professional connections. The 98-unit curriculum features eight foundational courses in economics, administration, political science, and analytical methods during the first year, culminating in a capstone project.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have earned a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an institution of comparable standing to the University of California with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The School requires minimum scores of: TOEFL 90 iBT or 550 PBT, IELTS band 7.0.

Applicants may either submit official academic transcript(s) by mail in an unopened envelope sealed by the university's registrar or upload copies of transcripts in the online application system.
Successful applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or from a recognized university-level academic institution abroad and at least a B average (3.0 GPA) or its equivalent by the time they enroll. Some exceptional applicants with lower GPAs may be recommended for admission.
