The Molecular and Cell Biology program focuses on teaching the fundamental molecular mechanisms that enable living organisms to survive, develop, and respond to their surroundings. Students will gain skills in applying principles from biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and cellular biology to address diverse scientific inquiries, from understanding phototropism in plants to decoding cancer's molecular origins. The curriculum also introduces interdisciplinary biological methods, including bioinformatics - a field merging genetics, molecular biology, and computational science. With its comprehensive approach, this major prepares students for numerous career paths such as healthcare, advanced research (both fundamental and applied), biotech industries, scientific communication and policy, population health, and STEM education.
