The mathematics department provides an extensive selection of courses in both theoretical and practical mathematics for its majors and students from other fields. Seven BS degree programs are available: mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics-computer science, a combined mathematics and economics major, mathematics-scientific computation, mathematics-applied science with probability and statistics, along with one BA program in mathematics-secondary education. Students may also pursue minors in mathematics or mathematics education. An Honors Program is offered for outstanding students across all eight majors. This program caters to those with strong interest in mathematics and its real-world applications in areas like physics, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, cognitive science, computer science, economics, management science, or engineering.
