Global health represents both an emerging academic discipline, a pressing societal issue, and a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach focused on analyzing and positively influencing health, disease, and treatment practices worldwide. The program's framework is shaped by two interpretations of 'global': one referring to worldwide geographical reach, the other denoting an all-encompassing, multidisciplinary perspective. The Global Health Program's undergraduate offerings (BA and minor) equip students with thorough knowledge about health determinants, wellness, and therapeutic approaches through a cross-border, culturally aware lens that surpasses national and regional boundaries. This field prioritizes health equity across populations, blending preventive public health measures, clinical treatment, policy development, and cultural awareness regarding health experiences and healing traditions. The curriculum spans diverse subjects such as healthcare systems, health promotion, environmental health impacts, communicable diseases, psychological wellbeing, health disparities, medical consequences of crises, traditional medicine, dietary health, and sexual/reproductive health. These degrees offer a well-rounded education merging social sciences, life sciences, and humanities while balancing classroom learning with practical experience, technical competencies, theoretical foundations, and applied knowledge. A distinctive component involves fieldwork at domestic or international health sites, leading to a capstone project for majors. This academic path prepares graduates for careers in academia, community services, public health institutions, medical fields, or legal professions, while also providing strong foundations for advanced health-related studies.
