The Department of Entomology provides graduate programs for both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Entomology, featuring specialized research opportunities in diverse fields including: plant pathogen-carrying arthropods, insect behavior studies, biochemical and physiological research, biological and chemical pest management, ecological and evolutionary studies, integrated pest solutions, insect-plant relationship analysis, medical/veterinary entomology, molecular insect science, nematode research, neurobiological studies, pathological investigations, pesticide toxicity, pollination science, taxonomic classification, and urban pest management.
Students pursuing a thesis-based Master's Degree must complete at least 36 quarter-units of combined graduate and upper-level undergraduate coursework. As previously mentioned, the Guidance Committee provides support in research planning, implementation, data interpretation, and course selection. Following the research phase, candidates must defend their thesis before their guidance committee through an oral examination.
