Organic Chemistry research at UC Riverside covers the full spectrum of contemporary topics, including medicinal and biological chemistry, natural product synthesis, novel reaction development, and mechanistic studies in physical organic chemistry. Our faculty also explore supramolecular self-assembly, functional material design, and reactivity at solid interfaces. We maintain strong interdisciplinary partnerships across chemistry subfields (Analytical, Biological, Inorganic, Physical) and with other UC Riverside departments like Chemical Genomics, Materials Science, Biochemistry, Plant Biology, and Entomology. Explore the links below to discover more about our organic chemistry research groups.
First-year graduate coursework focuses on contemporary organic transformations, mechanistic principles, molecular structure analysis, reaction kinetics, synthetic methodologies, and compound characterization techniques. Students engage with cutting-edge research through weekly departmental and group seminars.
