The Department of Creative Writing provides a Bachelor of Arts program in Creative Writing - the sole undergraduate program of this nature across the University of California system - featuring concentrations in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Our instructors include published poets, novelists, and dramatists who craft writing courses as interactive workshops, exposing students to fresh and distinctive content. Featuring small class sizes for personalized guidance, the Creative Writing program presents both challenging and fulfilling opportunities for emerging writers. Those considering a secondary focus can pursue the Department's Creative Writing minor option.

Completed their secondary education and have earned a certificate of completion which enables them to be admitted to a university in their home country.

To meet minimum requirements to be considered for UCR selection, you must earn a minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale (equivalent to an 85 percent on a 100 percent scale).
