The core mission of CEDH is to directly enhance quality of life for disadvantaged communities through diverse approaches including grassroots organizing, housing initiatives, employment opportunities, training programs, and both conventional and creative financing solutions. CEDH's teaching team comprises: Amada Armenta, Evelyn Blumenberg, Steven Commins, Susanna Hecht, Michael Lens, Joan Ling, Jose Loya, Paavo Monkkonen, Vinit Mukhija, Paul Ong, Michael Storper, Veronica Terriquez, Chris Tilly, Mark Vestal, and Goetz Wolff. Faculty investigations span numerous subjects, including employment access and transportation challenges for welfare recipients, housing assistance's impact on crime rates, intersectional perspectives in urban planning, tenant advocacy in public housing, mortgage systems and neighborhood segregation, land ownership rights, and workforce development strategies. While much faculty research concentrates on domestic contexts, several CEDH scholars examine these matters globally.
