The MSFS program aims to prepare future leaders in international relations through comprehensive education. Students engage with a demanding curriculum covering historical, political, social, cultural, and economic disciplines, learning to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications for meaningful impact. The program fosters a dedication to serving the global community while emphasizing ethical considerations in international relations. MSFS participants select one specialized concentration area, each requiring 18 credit hours that include a foundational course. Opportunities exist to focus on specific subfields within each concentration. The MSFS degree offers four specialization tracks: Global Politics & Security (GPS), International Development (IDEV), Global Business, Finance & Society (GBFS), and Science, Technology, and International Affairs (STIA), along with a Self-Designed Concentration option.
The IDEV concentration uniquely combines academic concepts with practical implementation, enabling students to examine different theories and models before applying them in real-world scenarios. This approach equips professionals to navigate the dynamic challenges of the development sector. Throughout the program, IDEV candidates gain expertise in four critical domains: Foundational development theories and approaches, Major development organizations and their operational frameworks, Essential program management methodologies, Specialized technical knowledge in a chosen development field.
