Indian law encompasses diverse legal topics and procedures, ranging from public policy issues affecting Native communities to cultural heritage preservation and repatriation. This specialization includes coursework on federal Indian law, tribal legal frameworks, and cultural property legislation. UCLA Law's Native Nations Law & Policy Center serves as a leading advocate for Native Nations, strengthening their legal systems while safeguarding cultural resources. Through the Tribal Legal Development Clinic, students collaborate directly with tribal representatives, offering legal support through non-litigation initiatives. Working in teams under guidance from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Legal Development Clinic Director, participants engage in various tribal-led projects while maintaining close communication with tribal liaisons.
