UCLA's one-year Master of Engineering (MEng) program is a self-funded professional degree crafted to cultivate tomorrow's engineering leaders. This program meets the demands of both students and industry, specifically designed for those aiming for technical management roles that require both advanced technical expertise and business acumen. The curriculum combines an interdisciplinary tech focus, professional engineering development, and a culminating capstone project.
The Data Science specialization aims to provide students with hands-on tools and foundational knowledge for processing vast datasets. We'll examine widely-used technologies (such as Python), deep-learning frameworks, sophisticated probabilistic modeling techniques, and distributed computing platforms.
This specialization brings together faculty knowledge from Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Computational Medicine.
Coursework will emphasize the integration of statistics, data mining, machine learning, and distributed systems to interpret and process massive datasets. Through lectures, students will master different computational models and theoretical frameworks, then apply these methods to analyze real-world data in their project work.
