We are delighted to announce that Florida State University's College of Arts and Sciences, along with the Departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, Scientific Computing, and Statistics, has established a novel M.S. Degree in Interdisciplinary Data Science (CIP Code 30.7001), launching in Fall 2021. This innovative program offers students passionate about data science a comprehensive educational journey spanning four specialized tracks. Participants will choose one concentration from: Computer Science, Mathematics, Scientific Computing, or Statistics. The curriculum requires completion of 30 credits over a minimum of 16 months (three academic semesters) for this course-based degree. The program features both foundational and specialized coursework. Core classes establish fundamental knowledge in mathematics, machine learning, statistics, data ethics, and database systems. With guidance from their advisory committee, students will select electives that shape their specialization within their chosen concentration. Faculty members actively engaged in data science research will mentor students through personalized academic plans aligned with individual aspirations. Graduates will develop premium technical competencies highly demanded across sectors looking to leverage Big Data for operational efficiency, customer service enhancement, and cost optimization. These skills prove essential in diverse fields including financial services, healthcare analytics, market research, transportation, e-commerce, and numerous other data-driven industries. Please note this program operates on a self-funded basis for all enrolled students.
