The Computational Cognition specialization is designed for students interested in exploring the computational frameworks that govern cognitive processes and their neural basis. This track offers comprehensive training in both computational theory and cognitive psychology, enabling students to cultivate interdisciplinary research pursuits. Overseen by Hongjing Lu, the Computational Cognition specialization welcomes students from the Cognitive area (admitted through standard Cognitive area procedures). Those who choose this specialization will maintain their status as Cognitive area students for administrative matters.
The department regards a broad undergraduate background in the behavioral, biological, physical, computational, and social sciences as the best preparation for graduate study in communication. It is desirable, but not required, to have majored in communication or a closely allied discipline as an undergraduate. Some college coursework in statistics or advanced mathematics is required.
IELTS Academic overall band score should be at least 7.0 is the minimum required.
TOEFL score on the paper and pencil test must be at least 560 or at least 87 on the internet-based test.
