At the cutting edge of literary, theoretical, and cultural research, comparative literature stands as one of the humanities' most dynamic disciplines. This field demands outstanding language skills, deep theoretical understanding, and exceptional intellectual capacity. UCLA's program enables students to collaborate with professors across all language and literature departments, as well as with the dedicated Comparative Literature faculty.
A bachelor's degree in literature, ancient or modern, is preferred, with a grade point average of at least 3.4 in upper division literature courses. Literary proficiency in one foreign language and at least an elementary knowledge of a second one are expected.
IELTS Academic overall band score should be at least 7.0 is the minimum required.
TOEFL score on the paper and pencil test must be at least 560 or at least 87 on the internet-based test.
