The Spanish and Community and Culture Major blends practical learning opportunities with academic exploration of Hispanic language, linguistics, literature, and cultural traditions, particularly within Los Angeles and U.S. communities. Through immersive experiences, students discover how Spanish serves as a vital instrument for engaging with and supporting Spanish-speaking populations locally and worldwide.
Those enrolled in the Spanish and Community and Culture BA program refine their Spanish proficiency, acquire research methodologies, and deepen their appreciation for cultural diversity. These competencies are then put into action through community-engaged learning courses that foster direct interaction with Hispanic populations.
