The Asian American Studies program is structured as a capstone major. Participants must undertake either a collaborative community research initiative or an individual academic/creative endeavor. Students opting for the community project apply their academic insights and critical thinking to address challenges within Asian and Pacific Islander American communities, developing innovative, research-backed solutions and creating valuable reports for community partners. Alternatively, those choosing independent projects explore a personally meaningful topic connected to their academic journey and the lived experiences of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans. Regardless of path, all students showcase their ability to integrate knowledge from various courses and effectively present their results through a final written work, creative output, or public presentation.
