Offered in both one-year and two-year options, the Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MIE) stands as the sole program of its type within the UC System, delivering comprehensive academic training and hands-on experience for aspiring entrepreneurs (launching new ventures) and intrapreneurs (driving innovation within established organizations). The curriculum covers essential innovation and entrepreneurship concepts, from spotting business opportunities using lean startup approaches to crafting business models, creating plans, building teams, securing funding (including venture capital), and launching enterprises. Students also gain substantial practical experience through UCI's vibrant entrepreneurial network.
All applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements:
Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized academic institution with degree standards equivalent to those of the University of California
Have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
TOEFL Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
On the TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80
For the paper-based test, a minimum score of 550
IELTS Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
An overall minimum score of 7 for admission, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual module.
Applicants who qualify for admission by the above criteria, and also achieve a score of 8 or higher on the Speaking module may be eligible to serve as a Teaching Assistant.
