The Music Department provides a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) program with specializations in Choral Conducting, Collaborative Piano, Guitar/Lute Performance, Instrumental Performance, Piano Performance, and Vocal Arts. Graduate studies include instruction in music analysis, history, theory, critical studies, and research alongside rigorous performance training. Our department's educational approach blends conservatory-level excellence with academic rigor, emphasizing musical performance and creation while maintaining high standards in historical, aesthetic, and theoretical exploration. This principle guides both undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as our faculty and student community. We also recognize the importance of music education for all students, offering humanities-focused courses for non-majors and performance ensembles open to qualified students from any discipline. Undergraduate options include Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Music in Performance (BMus) degrees, while graduate studies feature Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in performance specializations and Musicology, plus a PhD in Integrated Composition, Improvisation and Technology.
