The MFA Directing program at UC Irvine Drama focuses on creating theater that stimulates intellect, touches emotions, and uplifts audiences. Our mission is to prepare aspiring directors for crafting meaningful theatrical experiences in today's world.

Mere creative sparks aren't sufficient - successful directors need practical abilities to assess, refine, and communicate their vision while leading productions to fruition. They must possess the judgment to make tough choices, pose thought-provoking inquiries, and steer creative teams effectively. We foster director development through immersive practical work complemented by rigorous scholarly exploration.
