The UCI Dance Department stands as one of the most extensive collegiate dance programs nationwide. Our approach celebrates diverse dance styles, featuring instruction in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Spanish dance, ballroom, and rotating global dance forms including Indian (Bharata Natyam and Kathak), Tango, African, and Sri Lankan traditions.

Students enjoy outstanding performance platforms throughout the year. The department stages four major productions: Dance Visions (featuring faculty and guest choreographers), New Slate and Dance Escape (graduate student works), and Physical Graffiti (undergraduate creations). Quarterly informal showcases allow students to present developing pieces to peers and instructors.

Specialized ensembles like the Spanish Dance Ensemble, Jazz Dance Ensemble, and UCI Etude Ensemble provide distinctive performance avenues. The prestigious UCI/Conservatoire de Paris International Exchange Program fosters cross-cultural collaboration through performances in both California and France.
