The Master's in Conservation and Restoration Science (MCRS) program, offered jointly by the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) and the Center for Environmental Biology (CEB) in the School of Biological Sciences, equips students with essential skills and knowledge for leadership roles in conservation, restoration, and sustainability sectors. This hands-on degree incorporates fieldwork through community collaborations, immersing students in practical conservation scenarios. Designed for working professionals and recent graduates (up to five years post-degree), the MCRS program blends academic rigor with real-world application through EEB and CEB's interdisciplinary approach.
All applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements:
Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized academic institution with degree standards equivalent to those of the University of California
Have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
TOEFL Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
On the TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80
For the paper-based test, a minimum score of 550
IELTS Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
An overall minimum score of 7 for admission, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual module.
Applicants who qualify for admission by the above criteria, and also achieve a score of 8 or higher on the Speaking module may be eligible to serve as a Teaching Assistant.
