The Psychological Science Ph.D. program allows students to focus on one of five specialized areas. The curriculum provides comprehensive training in theoretical frameworks, research methodologies, and advanced statistical analysis, alongside exploration of both foundational and current topics in each specialization.
From their first year, graduate students work alongside faculty on research projects and are advised to seek diverse research experiences with multiple professors. As students refine their academic focus and capabilities, they gradually take on more autonomous research initiatives.
Our program maintains an outstanding 36 full-time faculty members for about 80 graduate students, ensuring exceptional mentorship opportunities and a close-knit academic environment. This close faculty collaboration throughout students' graduate studies frequently leads to co-authorship on conference papers, scholarly articles, and book contributions.

Qualification Requirements
All applicants must meet the following minimum academic requirements:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized academic institution with degree standards equivalent to those of the University of California
- Have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
TOEFL Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
- On the TOEFL iBT minimum score of 80
- For the paper-based test, a minimum score of 550
IELTS Score Requirements for Admission Consideration:
- An overall minimum score of 7 for admission, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual module.
- Applicants who qualify for admission by the above criteria, and also achieve a score of 8 or higher on the Speaking module may be eligible to serve as a Teaching Assistant.
