The Networked Systems graduate program is jointly overseen by faculty from two departments: Computer Science (CS) in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Students can pursue either an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Networked Systems through this program.
This program equips graduate students with educational and research opportunities focusing on computer and telecommunication networks. These systems encompass diverse technologies including telephone networks, cable TV systems, wireless and mobile networks, ad hoc networks, cellular networks, and the Internet. As an inherently multidisciplinary field, Networked Systems integrates software, hardware, and communication technologies, bridging conventional academic divisions. The discipline primarily incorporates elements from Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. At UCI, these disciplines are represented across the CS and EECS departments. The Networked Systems program combines the expertise of both departments to deliver comprehensive M.S. and Ph.D. programs in this evolving field.
