Program graduates will possess the professional and scientific training necessary to thrive as career engineers and in graduate studies. Specifically, they will be equipped to (1) operate in professional settings across industry, government, and academia by applying and expanding their engineering science knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills, (2) serve as team members and leaders while upholding ethical and inclusive standards, including the AIAA code of ethics, within and beyond conventional Aerospace Engineering fields, and (3) stay abreast of technological advancements and contemporary scientific, environmental, and societal concerns, continuously enhancing their skills and knowledge through lifelong learning. (Program educational objectives guide curriculum development, and achieving these objectives is a collaborative effort between students and UCI.) The undergraduate Aerospace Engineering program features a foundational core of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Much of the remaining coursework consists of engineering classes in fundamental disciplines. A limited number of technical electives enable students to focus on specializations or broaden their understanding. The curriculum culminates in a senior capstone design project.
