The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre program offers advanced training in areas such as vocal repertoire development, audition strategies, dance techniques, stage performance singing, and the evolution of American musical theater. After completing one quarter of Music Theatre Workshop, Level III (DRAMA 143A, DRAMA 143B, or DRAMA 143C), students may audition for the B.F.A. program each quarter. The Drama Department, consistently ranked among the nation's top ten programs, integrates liberal arts education with specialized training across multiple theatrical disciplines. Students participate in a diverse production season featuring plays, musicals, and original works in various performance formats. The department's founding principles emphasize developing artists who blend analytical thinking with practical stage experience, cultivating an innovative atmosphere for design, performance, and academic exploration. With its unique blend of resident faculty experts, visiting master instructors, engaged students, and outstanding facilities, the department delivers a dynamic and challenging curriculum. Current faculty members are accomplished professionals who provide students with contemporary, industry-relevant knowledge. Both B.A. in Drama and B.F.A. in Music Theatre graduates can earn Honors in Music Theatre by maintaining a 3.2 overall GPA and 3.4 GPA in music theatre courses. B.F.A. candidates must fulfill all specified departmental requirements for their major.
