The Global Cultures program is a forward-thinking undergraduate major within the School of Humanities, dedicated to examining globalization's challenges and dynamics through a humanistic lens. Faculty deliver engaging lectures and, in upper-level courses, facilitate interactive seminar discussions. The program embraces an interdisciplinary methodology, incorporating expertise from numerous departments across both Humanities (such as Art History, English, Film and Media Studies, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Spanish and Portuguese) and Social Sciences (including Anthropology, Chicano/Latino Studies, Political Science, Sociology).

The curriculum's remarkable breadth creates a vibrant academic atmosphere that draws students from varied backgrounds. Faculty members empower these students with critical perspectives and practical foundations for careers in both local and global contexts. Global Cultures majors select primary and secondary areas of focus from designated options, each representing a geographical concentration. Students also have the option to create customized emphases in collaboration with program advisors, subject to committee approval. All emphasis selections are made with faculty guidance and require committee endorsement.

Atlantic Rim Concentration: Investigates cultural exchanges and population movements connected to historical and modern societies bordering the Atlantic Ocean, encompassing regions like west Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, western/northern Europe, and the British Isles.

Qualification Requirements

Freshman applicants must have completed their secondary school/high school and have earned a certificate of completion which enables them to be admitted to a university. If youve completed all your secondary school/high school in a country where English is not the language of instruction, you can demonstrate proficiency by earning the required scores in following,
Score 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination:
