This program fosters a multidisciplinary approach to exploring different facets of human behavioral growth and the environments influencing development throughout life. The curriculum has three key objectives: examining biological, cognitive, and socio-emotional developmental areas, structuring developmental studies across the entire lifespan from birth to old age, and highlighting the contextual factors shaping human growth. After completing foundational core courses, students can specialize in one of five concentrations: biological, cognitive, socio-emotional, family and cultural studies, or research methods. Students may further refine their focus by selecting a specific life stage, such as early childhood, adolescence, or later adulthood. The program's faculty come from diverse fields including anthropology, education, human development, nutrition, pediatrics, and psychology, with many actively involved in campus research institutes like the MIND Institute, Center for Mind and Brain, and Center for Child and Family Studies.
