Obtain a Master's Degree in Preventive Veterinary Medicine to advance your professional journey with the pioneering Veterinary Public Health graduate program. For five decades, our alumni have secured positions across academic institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, private sectors, and any field requiring expertise in disease control and prevention. This Preventative Veterinary Medicine master's program provides a One Health perspective and qualifies graduates for American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM) board certification consideration. Complete the degree within one to three years, with enrollment available to veterinarians and One Health practitioners. Numerous graduates pursue doctoral studies after earning their MPVM. The curriculum offers thorough instruction in epidemiology and biostatistics, equipping you to develop independent research projects and practical interventions. Course offerings span Leadership, Data Management, Infectious Diseases, Predictive Modeling, Geographic Epidemiology, among others. Students pursuing ACVPM certification gain specialized preparation to meet the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine's requirements.
Consideration for program admission requires: completion of our current enrollment in a 1) A professional medical degree (e.g. a DVM degree or equivalent or a MD degree or equivalent) or extensive professional experience in a health or medical field. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale (or equivalent for foreign students) is required. The program requires that the student submit international transcripts that have been evaluated to a 4.0 scale in English.
Applicants whose most recent terminal degree was not delivered in an English language curriculum must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the Academic Modules of the International
English Language Testing System (IELTS), regardless of their language of instruction.
• Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 85 and minimum acceptable IELTS score is 7.0.
• All students are required to take an English language course (UWP 225 or UWP 226) unless:
They have a TOEFL test score (iBT) of 105 or higher or IELTS test score of 7.5 or higher,
OR
They have both 24 or higher on the writing portion and 23 or higher on the speaking portion of the TOEFL iBT test (Students with IELTS scores should contact the International Academic English program).
