The International Law concentration enhances students' global perspective by examining international legal systems, political dynamics, and commercial practices. This curriculum offers diverse study paths, ranging from cross-border commercial dealings to global human rights protections and war crimes jurisprudence.
Participants in this specialization gain substantial hands-on experience through activities like appellate advocacy tournaments and the Immigration Law Clinic, where they engage in real-world legal practice involving client representation, legal drafting, investigative work, and courtroom argumentation. They can also join academic societies including The UC Davis Journal of International Law and Policy, the International Law Association, and UC Davis Law Review.
Additional opportunities arise through collaboration with CILC, established in 2009 as a hub for scholarly work in international, comparative, and transnational legal studies. CILC facilitates student engagement via alliances with institutions like the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization and hosts an ongoing speaker program that attracts distinguished international legal scholars to King Hall.
