The School of Law collaborates with the Graduate School to provide a dual-degree program where students can obtain both a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning (P.F.P.) within three to four years. This program is tailored for individuals seeking to enhance their legal education with comprehensive knowledge of personal finance matters. Such a combination proves especially valuable for those pursuing careers in financial sectors like taxation, estate planning, retirement strategies, or employee benefits. The P.F.P. degree fulfills the educational prerequisites for taking the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) examination. Students can earn both degrees by completing 104 credit hours across law and financial planning courses, with 12 approved law course hours counting as electives toward the P.F.P. degree, and vice versa. Only credit hours transfer between programs—grades do not—meaning graduate coursework won't affect a student's Law School GPA or class standing.
