Our Spanish graduate program ranks among the country's finest Spanish departments. The latest Academic Analytics report places us first in scholarly productivity within our discipline. Students receive thorough instruction in Iberian and Latin American literatures and cultures - including Portuguese and Brazilian studies - along with Hispanic Linguistics. Faculty members embrace innovative theoretical approaches and interdisciplinary methodologies while maintaining focus on national literary traditions. The Ph.D. curriculum mandates coursework in Spanish language history and literary/linguistic studies, plus proficiency in two non-Spanish foreign languages.

Students must have B.A. degree in Spanish or its equivalent, 3.0 minimum GPA, Sample of recent written work in Spanish, TOEFL or IELTS scores, if required.
