Research in Global Environmental Change is conceptually rooted in physical geography and related fields including atmospheric sciences, ecology, geology, hydrology, and their environmental specializations. Leveraging UC Davis's strong programs in agricultural sciences, biological sciences, ecology, engineering, law, physical sciences, and veterinary medicine, students can create customized academic pathways that align with their specific interests. The Global Environmental Change program involves faculty and students primarily from Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Geology, Land, Air and Water Resources, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design, Plant Sciences, and Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology departments. Participants are also connected with campus research organizations like the John Muir Institute of the Environment, Center for Watershed Sciences, Information Center on the Environment, Center for Spatial Technologies and Remote Sensing, and Tahoe Environmental Research Center.
