The Graduate Program in Statistics provides a Ph.D. in Statistics with a Biostatistics Track as a specialized option. Biostatistics involves using statistical techniques in life sciences, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental studies, along with developing statistical approaches for challenges arising in these fields. This concentration leverages UC Davis's robust Statistics curriculum and its renowned programs in Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and the School of Medicine. GPS faculty members pursue diverse research areas within Biostatistics. Students interested in the Biostatistics track are advised to declare their focus early, with enrollment possible any time before the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam. The degree will officially appear as 'Statistics' on diplomas, transcripts, and thesis covers, but successful completion of the track will be acknowledged through a formal letter from the GPS Chair confirming fulfillment of all Biostatistics requirements.
