The Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry graduate program stands as UC Davis's pioneering interdisciplinary graduate group, celebrated for its comprehensive research methods in practical chemistry applications. Alongside diverse research possibilities, participants benefit from an extensive selection of courses spanning fundamental and applied chemistry, along with related disciplines. Our community of scholars and educators employs chemical principles to address critical global challenges. Participants develop expertise in analytical, organic, physical, inorganic, or biological chemistry, acquiring both theoretical understanding and practical abilities essential for professional work in areas like pesticide and toxicant analysis, food science, polymer studies, and biochemical processes. Alumni pursue successful paths in higher education, public service, corporate sectors, advisory roles, and beyond.
Consideration for admission to the PhD program requires a bachelor’s degree, three letters of recommendation, official transcripts, TOEFL or IELTS score (if applicable) and an Office of Graduate Studies online application with fee by the stated admission deadline. An MS degree is not required for admission to the PhD program.
