The Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration concentration combines two sociological disciplines through a shared set of introductory courses that establish fundamental understanding of racial/ethnic studies and migration patterns. Learners then expand upon this base by selecting specialized Sociology courses focusing on Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration topics, along with relevant electives from departments including African American and African Studies, Chicana/Chicano Studies, Native American Studies, Asian American Studies, and other Social Science and Humanities programs.

Sociology majors can specialize in areas like law and society, social services, global development studies, or pursue a general sociology track. The degree offers comprehensive training in sociological theory and research methods. Students explore diverse subjects such as racial/gender inequality mechanisms, contemporary migration trends and their impact on institutions, criminal justice structures, healthcare policies, or the rise of unstable employment conditions.

This major delivers a robust liberal arts foundation suitable for graduate studies in social sciences or various professional paths. Sociology graduates frequently enter fields including corporate sectors, education, legal professions, social services, data analysis, research institutions, healthcare administration, community development, and international organizations.
