The MPH professional degree curriculum is built upon core foundational courses. Students pursuing this degree can specialize in various fields, including Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology (11-month track), Epidemiology/Biostatistics, Health and Social Behavior, Health Policy and Management, Global Health and Environment, Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Maternal and Child Health, or Public Health Nutrition. The MPH program offers both traditional on-campus instruction and a blended On-Campus/Online option, which combines two intensive in-person sessions with online coursework.
Career support services are provided jointly by the School of Public Health and GSPP, helping students secure summer internships, six-month placements, and permanent employment. For the six-month residency component, advisors collaborate closely with each student to align their academic goals and professional aspirations with suitable placement opportunities.
Program alumni frequently receive multiple employment offers upon graduation. UC Berkeley's MPP/MPH dual degree opens doors to diverse career paths in various sectors. Graduates may pursue roles in government agencies such as congressional offices, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Congressional Budget Office, CMS, CDC, or state health departments. Others find positions in research firms, consulting organizations, healthcare corporations, HMOs, advocacy groups, philanthropic foundations, and professional healthcare associations.
