The MPH professional degree curriculum is built upon core foundational courses. Students pursuing this degree can specialize in various fields, including Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology (11-month track), Epidemiology/Biostatistics, Health and Social Behavior, Health Policy and Management, Global Health and Environment, Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Maternal and Child Health, or Public Health Nutrition. The MPH program offers both traditional on-campus instruction and a blended On-Campus/Online option, which combines two intensive in-person sessions with online coursework.

Career support services are provided jointly by the School of Public Health and GSPP, helping students secure summer internships, six-month placements, and permanent employment. For the six-month residency component, advisors collaborate closely with each student to align their academic goals and professional aspirations with suitable placement opportunities.

Program alumni frequently receive multiple employment offers upon graduation. UC Berkeley's MPP/MPH dual degree opens doors to diverse career paths in various sectors. Graduates may pursue roles in government agencies such as congressional offices, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Congressional Budget Office, CMS, CDC, or state health departments. Qualification Requirements

A distinguished undergraduate record and a strong quantitative aptitude are required for admission to the Health and Public Policy Program. Although previous experience is not required, preference is given to applicants who have had some work experience in health policy, either during or after completing a bachelor's degree. Applicants are expected to have taken the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with a test date within five years of the date of the application. In addition to the GRE, applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English Language (TOEFL). Admission Requirements Include:

Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
Grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4-point scale) in upper division undergraduate course work.
At least one college course in three of the following areas: anthropology, history, political science, psychology, sociology, or economics.
Adequate preparation in the biological, physical, or social sciences. Statements of Purpose, Your Statement of Purpose should explain why your background has prepared you for graduate training in public health. It is intended to give you the opportunity to submit a tailored narrative which will describe your education, experience and professional career objectives. The Richard and Rhoda Goldman School of Public Policy welcomes applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds and with a variety of career aspirations. Personal History Statement, College Transcripts, Three Letters of Recommendation, GRE scores dated before August 2013 are no longer valid. Applicants to the MPP must have a minimum cumulative TOEFL or IELTS score of: 110 on the Internet-Based TOEFL Test (IBT) OR a 600 on the Paper-Based TOEFL Test (PBT), 7 overall band score on the IELTS. The minimum graduate admission requirements are: a satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale, and enough undergraduate training to do graduate work in your chosen field.
