The interdisciplinary Graduate Group in Comparative Biochemistry oversees the PhD program for students pursuing biochemical and molecular approaches to biological science challenges. Candidates conduct research with faculty advisors spanning multiple fields such as Molecular and Cell Biology, Nutritional Science and Toxicology, Plant and Microbial Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, Public Health, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Comparative Biochemistry examines chemical processes across different living organisms to identify similarities and differences. These biochemical mechanisms regulate information transfer and chemical energy distribution.
