The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) develops educational leaders in practice, policy, and research. BSE faculty champion equitable public education that advances social justice by equipping educators to achieve excellence in teaching and learning across classrooms, schools, and communities. This dedication drives innovative research and meaningful educational reform. BSE scholars and students collaborate on interdisciplinary initiatives and fieldwork that enhance learning outcomes locally, nationally, and globally. The school provides PhD and MA degrees, credential programs, plus undergraduate Education majors and minors.
The minimum graduate admissions requirements are:
three letters of recommendation
statement of purpose
personal statement
writing sample (ca. 10-15pp. double-spaced)
Greek and Latin reading lists. Please list works read in Greek and Latin (not in translation), specifying which sections you have read or roughly how much of the work you have read, e.g., Aeneid 1 and 4, Sophocles OT (entire); Greek lyric (selections in Campbell).
TOEFL at least 90 for the Internet-based test (IBT), Overall Band score must be at least 7 on a 9-point scale for IELTS
