The undergraduate program in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) provides a comprehensive educational experience combining academic rigor, community engagement, practical application, and leadership development. With intentionally small class sizes, students build close relationships with faculty and peers.
This nationally top-ranked civil and environmental engineering program equips students with robust foundational knowledge in engineering science, design principles, and professional practice. Students develop solutions to pressing societal challenges—across California, the United States, and globally—including:
Modernizing civil infrastructure
Conserving natural resources
Reducing disaster risks
Developing efficient and sustainable civil engineering systems
The four-year CEE curriculum culminates in an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Berkeley undergraduates benefit from professional networking and community outreach opportunities. The department hosts vibrant student chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Chi Epsilon honor society, plus seven competitive engineering teams.
